When it comes to beauty, I think enough is never really “enough” and when the opportunity comes to try a new brand or product, I’m quick to take up the offer. Most recently I got the chance to test Dirty Girl Cosmetics, and if you haven’t heard here’s a little insight. Dirty Girl Cosmetics was started in 2014, This brand is associated with the appreciation of being a confident women, as well as owning independence above all standards.
I got the chance to reach out to the company and propose a collaboration, because why not? Also, A beauty company on empowering women, yes Please! I was sent what I like to call “heavens’ beauty package” which consist of Contour palettes, 2 eyeshadow palettes, and etc. After talking to myself like a psycho, and taking a ton of pics for my Instagram stories, I got down to swatching all the items in the package. So, with that being said, lets get into it!
The Contour palette contains 2 highlighter shades, 3 Contour shades, and 3 Concealers. This palette is a powder base palette, which mean there is some fall out.
The shades in the palette are very smooth, and creamy application. When I used the highlighter shades they were so buttery. The shades are buildable in both the contours and concear, but because they are a powder form, they can look a little chalky. Here are the swatches, the highlighters come in a white champagne shade (first) and the other is almost a golden shade. They are both beautiful, I think that the feeling is very high quality, almost like Profusion or Stila. Overall while the palette has some misses, I will use it again, even if that means using it with other products.
The Cream Concealer palette I got ranged in 6 shades from the coolest of white, to a warm tone brown. This has to be my favorite face palette. The palette had full coverage and was able to blend in perfect, Thank God! When I originally opened the palette I thought the shades doesn’t have much of a range, Its going to ruin my foundation, but once I used it there was no turning back. I love these shades they are super rich’ and build-able, I think a little goes a lonnnggggg way.
Lastly, are the eyeshadow palettes, I recieved 2 one by the brand itself, and the other was beauty creations. Now, when it comes to eyeshadows, I think every brand is different, but in ways are similar. I tried both palettes, and lets start with Beauty Creations. Beauty Creations Nudes palette, contained 12 shades w/ 8 shimmer shades 4 matte shades. I loved the shimmer shades, they contain glitter, but who doesn’t mind a little extra shimmer. When I swatched the shades the shimmer shades seem more pigment, and more of a velvet touch, which feels really nice. I didn’t really care for the matte shades that much, they didn’t really build, they were really chalky, but when it comes to eyeshadows, they can’t all be winners. Even though the matte shades were a bit of a miss, the shimmer shades could do no wrong. The next palette was the Dirty Girl Cosmetics Blush Nudes palette, which contained the same amount of shimmer shades and mattes. I tried this palette w/wo a primer to see would it appear more vibrant than what was appearing on my arm, and the shades were a little disappointing. I do like some of the shimmer shades; like the more rose-y and champagne shades, but the darker the shades, the more chalky the shades appeared. I can see myself using these palettes again, just for certain shimmer shades, But that’s just my opinion, Beauty Gurus test them for yourself and tell me if you have a different opinion.
