Just to address the HUmungous gap of me not writing, I have been in school, and that alone is an explanation on its own, but I have been getting numerous things PR & buying the latest, and will be posting like a normal person….great to be back on my BOSS game.
Today I want to talk S K I N C A R E, a topic that I love more than makeup. It’s important to have a regime that is effective, I can’t tell you how many times I have switched out products, between luxury and drugstore brands, I could probably equal it to a semesters’ tuition, no Joke! At the age of, 22, you probably think, “hmm what skin problems?’ but with les stress, and being very active, there are 22 years of scaring, and sun damage, that has not yet healed completely. I have completely stopped listening to TV and have stopped reading into what youtubers use and decided to try things out for myself, unless you’re Zendaya.
I have been a fan of Vanity Planet, for a while now, they have quality products for the best prices. Recently I got to try out one of their sought out clay mask, I’m more of a sheet mask kind a girl, but the thing I like about mask in raw clay form, you’re able to mix and match ingredients that work best with my skin type. Vanity Planet carries 3 clay mask types; Rose, Charcoal, and Green tea. I chose to try the Zen Goddess green tea mask, if you don’t know the benefits of green tea, where have you been? Green tea is all about improving skin complexion, and diminishing scarring of the worst sorts. The mask is $22 in between luxury & drugstore, which is right up my price range.
When it comes to mixing my facial mask, I use honey, lemon juice, Thayers Witch Hazel, and drops of Tea tree oil, all skin brightening components. I use this mask, twice a week, and it really gives you a radiant glow. This is just the first part to my skin routine, this facial is followed by water cleansing, toner, and moisturizer. I really like the clay mask, they are totally worth it, for skin glowing properties and a step to a skin upgrade itself.
Well that’s my skincare regime that I’ve been using for the past month and a half, super simple & easy. I really love the clay mask, and all its benefits, as well as, the availability of price range, the one thing I would say is in the future, I would love a complete collection toner, moisturizer , etc.
Have you tried Vanity Planet? If so, what’s your favorite products? Also if you haven’t here are the links to the website, I really recommend the products, they are all spot on, and worth it. If you enjoy post like this, “LIKE” this post, and “comment” your favorite product.
Disclaimer: This was a PR sampling, I was gifted by Vanity Planet. All opinions are my own
When it comes to clear skin, I am willing to pay tons of cash for every great product created for skin, and I know I’m not alone. Numerous brands has come out with skincare as a branch off with the same promise, ” The #1 product that will make you toss your other products” well I actually came across a wonderful brand that show results.
The facial Bar, a skincare & Beauty brand, sent me some samples to try out, over 2 months ago, and here I am with my review…..shall we begin.
My skincare changes constantly, me being a black women there are numerous products that does not support my type of skin, which is constant back and forth with creams and products. The facial bar, is a skincare and beauty brand that supports women of color skin issues, like acne, dark scarring, etc. When I read more on the brand, I found out they are cruelty free, as well as free of parabens, talc, and formaldehyde.
I was sent a Diminishing clay mask, and a gorgeous highlighter.
The Diminishing Scar clay masque, is made with all natural ingredients; Pumpkin clay, Tumeric powder, Cranberry powder, Aloe Vera, all things that your skin needs. On the website it says to use it twice a week, to see results, so I did just that. I really like this masque, it helped with the redness of my skin and cleared up some acne that I had on my cheeks. When you first put it on, it does have a slight burning sensation, after it just starts to harden. After using it the first couple times, I did see the improvement and natural glow to my skin. Being that this is a powder based mask, it allows you to mix it with other home ingredients, I used Milk, lemon, and honey ( which is a natural skin brightener combination). The product costs $16, which for a organic product is a really great price. Overall, this product does work for me, I like how it’s powder based, it gives you the choice of mixing it with whatever is good for your skin, or to use it with something as simple as, water.
Highlighters have become part of a daily routine for, it seems like I don’t need to do a full face beat, just some highlighter will get me through the day. I tried out one of their highlighters and got the shade Rose. This highlighter is so beautiful, a picture can not do it justice, you would have to see it in person. I love this shade, its easy to build, and blend out. when I swatched it on my arm, it almost felt like air, it wasn’t clunky or chalky, it felt very high end, if not better. They have a 7 shades that looks great on all skin tones, for $14 ea.
Overall, the Facial bar, has amazing products for amazing products, and being able to deliver high quality products, for affordable prices is even better. Don’t believe me, check outthe Facial Bar
Time flies, it was just the beginning of June and soon I’ll be back in class cue anxiety
Summer is literally the most debatable season of them all, it super relaxing but, with the sun; hot weather it really takes a toll on your skin, which can have you spending a summers vacation on skin products. In the weeks of being on break I have been trying this new skincare product that claims to put all other products to rest.
I’ve partnered with Brandbacker x Simplicity Skincare to test and review Simplicitys’ dual pump skin renewal Reversal Protection Complex, and here’s my honest opinion.
I tried the Simplicity dual pump for 2 weeks ruling out all my other skincare products, but before here’s a little information on Simplicity:
So how did the idea for Simplicity come about? One day, while at my Esthetician, I was admiring her skin. When I asked her what she used, she told me a very expensive eye cream all over her face and neck! Why? Because effective eye creams are highly concentrated and they do a great many things, from promoting cellular repair to increasing firmness to reducing wrinkles to fighting inflammation. Then I got to thinking wouldn’t it be great to have one cream that could do it all and have it be coupled with a serum that was equally as effective? I started talking to my girlfriends about it and the answer was a resounding yes! Hence the birth of Simplicity Skincare. My Reversal Protection Complex, which is derived by combining my Superior Serum with Moisture to give your skin all it deserves. I have been using it over a year and the results have been amazing!
So Simplicitys’ Dual Pump skincare comes with a dual sided pump, with one side being a light weight serum and the other a moisturizer. The serum contains Jojoba OIl, Aloe Vera, witch hazel, and vitamin E, free of phosphates, and Alcohol. The Moisturizer contains Vitamin B5, Aloe, grapeseed oil, primrose, and chamomile.
Trying the dual pump w/o any other product feels super natural, because its a serum and moisturizer in one, it was less time consuming and within a day I could feel a difference in my skin. I used both in the morning/night after washing my face. The feel of the formulas is super light weight and the consistency doesn’t feel oily, or sticky. Its said to be a anti aging product, which doesn’t just cover aging, the ingredients also target acne, break outs, and blemishes, which I am constantly dealing with.
Since I’ve been using it, my skin feels like it’s being protected from the sun rays, which is a huge factor in aging skin, and a few fine lines on my forehead are beginning to diminish. I feel like if I was to use the rest of this product in a month or 2, I will get the results I’m looking for, but so far so good.
I hope you enjoyed my post on the Simplicity Skincare dual pump Reversal Protection Complex, be sure to “Like” this post, and tell me if you’ve tried it.
It is June 1st, and it seems like a lot has happen in the month of not writing. I’ve been in between testing tons of makeup and trying to get back in school, but moving into June I have a ton of exciting post to share!! Enough rambling lets talk makeup, LOL
Now around the beginning of May I received a gorgeous package from Jane Iredale, if you haven’t heard here’s a little info on the brand.
Jane Iredale is the president and founder of Iredale Mineral Cosmetics, a company she founded in 1994 which brought the mineral makeup line Jane Iredale to the aesthetic industry. She was the first to supply this industry with a line of makeup that had skin care benefits.
Jane has always thought of makeup as an essential part of a woman’s sense of well-being and she wanted to make that easy to achieve. That’s why her mineral powders are a foundation, powder, concealer and sunscreen all in one, and why every product in the line is multi-functional. Her goal is to make products that look good, feel good and are good for the skin. Products must be easy to apply, as well, so that a woman can be herbest in the shortest amount of time.
I was sent a bronzer, 2 pressed eyeshadow palette, 2 glosses, 2 lip crayons & a Hydration Spray.
Lets talk hydrating Spray, the spray is a lemongrass hydrating Spray that is great to give you a boost after a workout, or even a glow to your makeup. I used this after both scenarios and its such a boost of refreshing mist, It does take more than a sec to dry, but the consistency of the spray is so even, I really love using this. In a world of setting sprays and hydrating sprays, I really can’t compare this spray to any other, the combination of lemongrass, and the mist itself is so refreshing. Now Jane Iredale, has 5 different hydration sprays, it retails for $30. Overall this is great product.
There isn’t a beauty brand that doesn’t have a line of pressed eye shadows, the most famous of them being Colourpop, Jane has a ton of pressed eye shadows to select from in various finishes, matte, metallic, creamy, etc. The 2 palettes I have comes in a duo and another was a trio of shades. Both palettes have a great transition shade, and between the two I can do at least 3 different eye looks. The duo pure pressed shadows have 2 shades a light shade ( Supernova) and a deep brown shade w/ Shimmer ( Oyster) both are heavily pigmented and are not chalky at all, I think the shades are perfect for everyday. I love the packaging of the duo palette, it comes in this luxurious gold packaging, which I’m a sucker for pretty packaging. The Trio palette is pretty as well, the palette “Pink Bliss” comes with pretty shades, a transition shade, a very matte pink shade, and a shimmery plum shade, which gives me so much LIFE!
first 3 ( the Pink Bliss trio palette) Last 2 ( Oyster/Supernova duo palette)
These are the swatches without priming my arm, as you can see the shades are pigmented and doesn’t have any chunky fallout, which you normally get with glittery or shimmer eye shadows. Overall the shades are great, they are wearable and both contain very pretty shades, my favorite is the “Pink Bliss” trio palette.
Both palettes retail for $30
Next I got the “Rose Dawn” bronzer that comes with a highlight, 2 blushes, & contour, when I looked at the shades they all seem like blushes, except the highlight shade, But then when I swatched I could tell the difference, the shades look a lot different than in the pan itself. All the shades have a shimmer effect, which when it comes to my bronzers/ contour shades I like deep matte shades but I tried it anyhow to give it chance. I really like the feel of the bronzer, the texture is very buttery and soft, they apply really nice. When wearing the bronzer shades they act more as a highlighter, all have a very iridescent finish to them sort of like the Nicole Guerriero x ABH highlight palette it’s just the shades look a little similar, which is great. I like the bronzer palette, its really pretty on the face.
It retails for $44
Lastly I got some lip products, when it comes to lip products I am a hoarder, I was sent 2 glosses, 2 lip crayons, and a lip balm. The glosses I got was the shade Pink Smoothie & Beach Plum. When it comes to glosses I normally can do without, because glosses can be sticky or not pigmented enough for me, but these Pure glosses are nothing like it. I really like the lip glosses, they are very light when applying and they don’t have a tacky application. I really like the shades, Beach Plum is my favorite, I’ll show you why in a min. I also got some lip crayons, which I love, both shades have this velvet like application which is just pigmented and smooth.
The first 2 shades Lip Crayons ( Yummy & Saucy) I love the names BTW! last 2 Pure Glosses ( Pink Smoothie & Beach Plum)
The lip crayons are, as you know, easy to apply, they glide on the lips I just love them.
Yummy ( Pinky Nude shade)
Saucy ( red- Orange)
Pink Smoothie ( light Pink shade w/ shimmer)
Beach Plum ( Dark Plum w/ Pink undertone)
Lastly I got a Jane Iredale lip balm, which is just a great hydrating lipstick. I love the feel of this lip balm, it has a little pink tint to it, and smells like lemon, Mmmmm!!
It’s has been nearly a month since I’ve done any kind of post, but in defense I have been working on purchasing a camera, to give you better photos, and cross over to that professional lifestyle. I have a ton of PR, and I have been buying a ton of products that I want to share, I will try and post everything on time….I’ll Try… But enough stalling, Let’s get into this blog.
I have tried a ton of liquid lipsticks whether they’re Matte finishes, or glosses and normally I end up highly intrigued and buy everything, not like a normal person, so when I saw the lip products in Victoria Secret, literally flipped out. We all know Victoria Secret for being the “Sexy lingerie store” and Adriana Lima SWOON! But now they have descent makeup.
Let’s start by talking about these lip glosses, I didn’t get a chance to swatch these in the store I brought these simply based off outside appearance. The packaging is beautiful and screams Spring, and not only that they really read as luxury products. When I swatched these shades they were a little disappointing, they were really transparent and light, but the color shine shades were more pigmented than the rest. I did like the feel of it on my lips, they weren’t tacky when applying it, though it takes about 40 applications to get the color on the outside it still is pretty and good if you don’t want dry lips.
The Velvet matte shades are very pigmented, they show up clear as day. I like that they are not overly drying and still has sort of, a shine underneath. I really should have gotten more of these shades, because they are super pretty, they apply nicely, they don’t tug or pull on the lips. The only thing about the velvet matte shades is that when you dip the wand in from application, they have a clump of product at the tip, but that’s the only nit- picky thing I have with these.
( From Top to Bottom)
Lip Color Gloss:
Escape ( light lilac w/ Pink undertone)
Paradise ( Hot Pink)
Peek a Boo ( Fair Nude)
Charmed ( Nude w/ Red undertone)
Impulsive ( Red Shade w/ Pink undertone)
Scandalous ( Purple w/ Pink undertone)
Lastly is the Lip plumpers, I brought 2 of the same kind, uhhhhh!!!! Too Faced cosmetics has a lip plumper and I wanted to see how this compares to the Too faced lip plumper which was $22 BTW, the Victoria Secret lip plumper was half that price. I really like this lip plumper it doesn’t give you a plumped pout, but it does add a ton of gloss and shine, it’s infused with vitamin E, which is good for moisture. I’m glad I purchased 2 because traveling and being on the go causes dry lips, and this will help a ton.
I hope you enjoyed this little haul/ swatch post, I will definitely be posting more. If you enjoyed this post be sure to “LIKE” this post and tell me if you like the Victoria Secret makeup? Have you tried it? What’s your favorite shade in this post, if any? Let me know in the comments?
PR samples are provided by Notino, all opinions and photos are my own.
I’m back with another beauty haul, today I am going to be reviewing 2 palettes of the Balm cosmetics, Guys! I don’t know how much I rave about this brand, probably a lot, but I was excited to try theBalmJovi palette and the Smoke palette. So, lets get into this review, SHALL WE.
I am a huge “palette girl” I love a great drugstore brand palette, I mean I’m all for luxury brands, but I don’t like being completely broke. The Balm, if I haven’t said it before, this brand has great quality products for great prices.
Okay now for the palette, the Balm Jovi palette is a full face palette that comes with 12 eye shadows , highlighter, blush, and 2 lip shades. I never used a full face palette, I buy products individually, but I feel that this palette has its advantages, I mean you’re paying for a palette that comes literally with everything, and you’re saving a ton of money. This palette retails for $20, which is a great price for the entire palette.
This palette is so amazing the eye shadows have 4 metallic shades, 4 matte, and 4 shimmer shades. All the eye shadow shades are super pigmented, they are very creamy and I love how the shades vary they have light shades, transition shades, and dark shades also they have a few warm tone colors which I live for.
I swatched all the shades and I did have to prime my arm, I never had to do that BTW, but the shadows shows up as they do in the palette. Each swatch is 2 layers so they show up better. Okay, so the shades itself are super pigmented, they all show up nicely, they are not at all chalky, they apply very smooth, and even swatch super creamy. I like that that the palette had 3 different shade finishes ( metallic, matte, and shimmer).
The consistency of this palette is very nice I think the shades are lovely so the swatches are above. (left to right)
The first 4 are all metallic shades_
Metallica ( white Metallic)
Iron Maiden ( Golden)
Led Zepplin ( Olive Green Metallic)
Alice Cooper (Brown w/Mauve undertone Metallic)
I really love these pigmented metallic shades, they are rich in color, and apply so creamy, I also like that they are grouped as heavy metal rock bands, all of whom I’ve listened to a billion times, these shades apply really nice with/out primer, there is a ton of fall out, but what eyeshadow doesn’t.
The MID – 4 Matte
Adagio ( very light brown w/white undertone)
Allegro (Taupe Brown)
Moderato ( Deep matte Purple)
Presto (Deep Brown)
So these 4 are all matte shades based on classical music, which is really great. I love the shades, they are very wearable warm tone shades. I like the deep purple that is in the mix. I think the shades are really pretty, the only thing is that these are best with a primer, otherwise they show up super light, barely visible with exception of the deep purple. Overall the classical shades are really nice, and nice range of shades for the palette.
The last 4 – Shimmer shades
Blink 182 ( Nude Brown w/ pink undertone )
The Stroke ( Navy Blue)
Rem ( Lilac Purple)
Third Eye Blinded ( A fair Pink shimmer)
The last 4 are all shimmer shades, these shades are grouped based off popular rock bands. These shades have to be my favorite, they are super pigmented, and out of all the shades these 4 didn’t have as much fall out as the rest. These shades look really pretty with/without primer. The shimmer shades do have a ton of glitter, but I really like the shimmer on my eyes.
Overall the eye shades look really nice, the application of these shades all have a nice creamy consistency, I have to say the metallic shades have to be my favorite, they show up better on my eyes and the color range is wearable day or night.
Next is the Smoke Balm palette, this palette is a great palette for any day, they only contain 3 shades a shimmer black, a warm neutral shade, and a highlight shade. I really like the shades in this palette, the shades are not crazy shades, they are warm tone colors, which I appreciate.
The shades are:
Blaze ( shimmer Black)
Spark ( Matte taupe brown)
Flame ( highlight)
I really like this palette, Blaze and spark are my favorite, they are super pigmented and have a very rich consistency. The shades start off light, so they are buildable, the highlight shade is a little to light for my skin tone, it almost look chalky, but swatch wise its very beautiful, it looks like Ice, its kind of comparable to the champagne pop glow palette.
Here are the swatches of the smoke balm palette.
Well that’s all for my review on the balm jovi and smoke balm palette. Be sure to “LIKE” this post, and tell me if you tried either palette? Do you like THE BALM COSMETICS? If so, whats your favorite product of the brand? Tell me in the comments below.
